Tell us how you got started in cardiology?
She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the National University of Rosario in 2002 and in 2007 she obtained the title of specialist in cardiology. I then trained in Cardiovascular Rehabilitation at the University of Favaloro and joined the Cardiology Exercise Committee of the Argentine Cardiology Federation of which I was President in 2022.
I currently work at ICANE (Innovation in Cardiology and Neurology), a very complex clinic in Casilda. There I manage a cardiovascular rehabilitation program, see patients in the clinic and conduct heart disease prevention studies.
How was music introduced into medicine?
In addition to being a doctor, I am a musician. I have played the piano since my childhood, and during the pandemic music has taken on a new meaning in my professional life. While coordinating the ICU at a local clinic, I contracted COVID-19 and had to self-isolate. In that confinement, I was reunited with my piano. When I played it, I felt a physical and emotional relief that made me ask myself: What is the effect of music on the heart?

Authoritarians don’t like this
The practice of professional and critical journalism is an essential pillar of democracy. This is why it bothers those who believe they are the bearers of the truth.
What conclusion did you reach?
Although this topic is not discussed in cardiology books and conferences, I have discovered abundant scientific evidence about how we generate a neuropsychological immune response in our bodies that helps control stress and high blood pressure. This inspiration prompted me to compose pieces designed to convey tranquility and well-being, and thus I was born. Relaxing piano musicIt is a project that aims to reduce stress and high blood pressure through music.
It’s a very interesting proposal. How do you access those pieces?
Today I have a Spotify channel available from anywhere on the planet, where you can find me by name Luciano Lopiccolo. Recommended playlist: Music for high blood pressure.
Final thought…
This intersection between medicine and art transformed my professional practice and opened a new path in cardiology: one that integrates passion, science and well-being.
