RJ: An emergency operation leads to the deaths of three drug dealers and the shooting of a child

On Wednesday (26/11), an emergency operation launched by the Civil Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro (PCERJ) recorded heavy gunfire after criminals reacted to the arrival of security forces. During the confrontation, three suspects were shot dead.

The exchange of gunfire disrupted traffic on the Yellow Line, near Vila do João, in Complexo da Mare, the northern region of Rio. A 12-year-old boy was injured in the leg inside the Siep Helio Smit area next to the 22nd Military Police Battalion (MARI).

Preliminary information indicates that the child was in the school yard performing a scientific activity when he was shot.

The Civil Police Secretariat announced in a statement that “the operation achieved its goal and prevented the outbreak of gang war in the cities.”

The identity of the dead has not yet been identified, but according to the organization, they are drug traffickers, and have been identified as security guards for the leader of a criminal faction. In addition to those killed, a man was arrested and two rifles and two pistols were seized.

Also according to PCERJ, the attack was launched based on intelligence, indicating the movement of heavily armed drug traffickers in Complexo da Mare, preparing to invade a rival community.

“To avoid a confrontation that could lead to many innocent victims, civilian police officers from the Undersecretary of Intelligence (Ssinte) and Special Resource Coordination (Core) are conducting an emergency operation in the area.”
