RJ Court keeps Vice President Marcinho in federal prison – 11/27/2025 – Daily Life

A Rio de Janeiro court decided to keep drug trafficker Marcio dos Santos Nepomuceno, Vice President Marcinho, 55, for another three years in the federal prison system.

This request was submitted by the State Secretariat for Penal Administration in Rio de Janeiro and accepted by the Criminal Sentences Execution Court.

Rapper Oroam’s father is, according to the court, the leader of the Comando Vermelho and is considered extremely dangerous. He was arrested in September 1996 on charges of running drug trafficking in Complexo do Alemão, in the northern region, and sentenced to a total imprisonment of 55 years and eight months.

Marcinho VP was transferred to a maximum security prison in January 2007. He is currently serving his sentence in the federal prison in Campo Grande, in Mato Grosso do Sul.

The court stated in the decision that keeping the drug trafficker in the federal system contributes to the continued fight against organized crime in Rio.

“The transfer of a prisoner outside the borders of the state of Rio de Janeiro constitutes an obstacle to the coordination of crimes and to the flow of communications between these commanders and their subordinates, with regard to the transfer of illegal orders, including reported acts of extrajudicial violence, which enables the continuity of the public security policy to combat organized crime implemented by the Rio de Janeiro authorities,” an excerpt of the resolution said.

The court cited the containment operation, which was carried out in and between the Alemão compounds, the stronghold of Vice President Marcinho. According to the Criminal Court’s assessment, his return to the state could destabilize the efforts of public authorities “to save social peace and combat organized crime.”

Another excerpt from the resolution highlights the history of Marcinho VP’s transgressions during prison terms in state and federal units.

“Marcio Santos Nepomuceno has a troubled prison history,” the document says. “The prison system in Rio de Janeiro records 15 disciplinary violations. Among them are 10 serious violations.”

One of them, according to the court, was the 2002 rebellion in the Gericino complex, in the western region of Rio. The latest attack was on another prisoner.

Marcinho’s defense asked him to return to Rio de Janeiro and claimed that he was serving a continuous 18-year sentence in federal prison. He also said there was no new truth in his request to remain in the federal prison system.

According to the defense, “There is no effective leadership, no records of disciplinary violations, and the prisoner devotes himself to reading and literary production, including published works.”

In addition to Oroam, Marcinho has five other children. The defense also pointed to the fact that they live in Rio, as do their wife, mother, siblings and uncles.
