Rosalyn arrives today and tomorrow at the Festival Palace the theatrical work dedicated to Chavela Vargas

On Friday 28 and Saturday 29 November, the singer Rosaleen will arrive at the Palace of the Cantabrian Festival with the theatrical work “Chavela”, dedicated to the character of the legendary Mexican artist Chavela Vargas.

The Sala Argenta Theater will host this show, produced by Producciones Rokamboleskas, at 7:30 p.m. Both days, for 90 minutes without a break.

Under the direction and dramaturgy of Carolina Román, Rosalyn will be accompanied by Luisa Gavasa, Paola Iwasaki, Raquel Varela and Laura Porras.

The piece tells how María Isabel (Anita Carmen de Jesús Vargas Lizano) returns home after a long tour that was her last. Her friend La Bellona comes looking for her in three days, and Chavela teeters between the edge of this world and the next.

From time to time she forgets who she is, but a red thread takes her away, to those places “where she loved life,” to the limbo of memories she visits before leaving.

An old woman awaits death, a wounded girl reigns inside a woman, and a legend becomes eternal. Thus, characters appear and disappear within a scene characterized by “magical” realism.

The Cantabrian government noted that pre-sale tickets for both sessions had been sold out weeks ago. However, 10 percent of capacity will be sold out on both days, both at the box office and on the website, in accordance with the Provincial Entertainment Code.
