The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro carried out an operation on Thursday (13) morning to dismantle a scheme to illegally manufacture and sell firearms, ammunition and military supplies. Investigations are underway in Rio de Janeiro and Parana to implement 17 search and seizure warrants at addresses linked to the gang.
The investigation, conducted by Desarm (the specialized police station for weapons, ammunition and explosives), began after analyzing the information contained in the electronic devices seized in the previous stages of the operation and submitting it to digital forensics.
Investigators found chats, videos and other records of illegal transactions, revealing the existence of an organized network for the manufacture and sale of weapons, for both permitted and restricted use.
According to the investigation, agents identified direct relationships between manufacturers, brokers and buyers, responsible for the production and sale of homemade handguns, rifles and machine guns, as well as hand-assembled ammunition.
The state government says, “The intercepted letters and financial records indicate profits reaching 150%, and indicate the use of private transport companies to secretly send weapons, with instructions to hide the content and identity of the senders.”
The teams found factories, storage points, spare parts, inputs and equipment used in reloading ammunition. Some illegally produced or purchased weapons were distributed without any legal oversight or registration.
