Madrid, November 27 (European Press) –
The Russian government accused NATO on Thursday of “torpedoing” efforts to “resolve the conflict” in Ukraine, which erupted in February 2022 following an invasion order signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, before reiterating that Kiev’s entry into the bloc was “unacceptable” to Moscow.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, according to the Russian Interfax news agency: “We have not seen any changes, including NATO’s plan to torpedo the negotiation process to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.”
He stressed that “any plan for a political and diplomatic agreement, and even any contact, generates convulsions in the information climate, aiming to slow down, avoid, and even cause the collapse of any trend (towards peace),” referring to the recent proposal presented by the United States.
US President Donald Trump confirmed that he “hopes to meet soon” with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to address these potential developments towards reaching an agreement, although he stressed that he would only do so “when the agreement to end this war becomes final or in its final stage.”
