
El País journalist Sandra López Leytón was one of the winners of the second edition of the Vía Ágora Journalism Awards, as the author of the report From Bubble to Big Deficit, recognized as the best article analyzing the situation of the residential real estate sector. The text “is distinguished by the breadth of its approach and the solidity of the multiple references it contains, and provides a global and solid vision for a field that is constantly evolving,” the organization estimates in its statement.
In addition to examining the current state of the real estate market, the jury recognized that the focus of the report, despite being included within the report on housing, published by El Pais in 2024, “remains quite valid and continues to arouse interest thanks to the clarity of its arguments and the quality of its narrative.” With all this, he also celebrated his “ability to explain precisely, but also with accessibility, the keys to the real estate market that allow both sector professionals and the general public to understand the complexity of the matter.”
López Letón, who holds a degree in journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid, is a real estate editor at El País newspaper, where she has been writing for more than two decades. He currently writes for the economic information supplement “Negocios”. In addition to recognizing their work, the Via Agora Prize is worth €3,000.
