Jaconero are the second team to finish relegation in the competition
After a 1-1 draw with Bahia, in the 36th round of the Brazilian Championship, Friday (28), to remain in Serie A, Juventude needed to drain Santos, who entered the field against Sport, in Vila Belmiro, shortly after the final whistle at the Alfredo Jaconi stadium. Despite the hope of survival, the Rio Grande do Sul side saw the Pixies beat Lão da Ilha 3-0. The result confirmed Jaconero’s relegation.
Two matches before the end of the competition, with a draw in Caxias do Sul, Juventus remained in 19th place with 34 points. The team led by Thiago Carpini will have a mathematical chance to save itself if Peixe, who started the Tour as a direct contender for last place, falters.
Along with its fans, Santos won, and finished in fifteenth place with 41 points, the same score as Internacional, the first team outside Z4. With only six points in hand, Juventude are no longer able to reach the points needed to maintain their place in the national elite.
Given this scenario, Rio Grande do Sul joins Sport as the second team to be relegated to the second division of the Brazilian championship. There are only two vacant positions left in the thorny area.
Despite the fall, Joe still has Serie A commitments. On Wednesday (3), at 7:30 pm (Brasilia time), the team hosts Santos, at Alfredo Jaconi. To conclude the tournament, next Sunday (7), at 4 pm, visit Corinthians, at the New Quimica Arena.
