Santos president says Neymar should not play sacrifice after injury

Santos club president Marcelo Teixeira confirmed the medical problem suffered by attacking midfielder Neymar, with an injury to his left knee, and said he expected the star to play against Sport on Friday.

However, according to the manager, the No. 10 should not make sacrifices in the final stage of the Brazilian championship if a serious problem is confirmed.

Neymar trained on Wednesday at CT Rei Pelé and will be assessed to see if he will try to make an effort to play the next three games of the season in the fight against relegation.

Neymar trained with the group today and suffers from a “problem” in his knee, which will be re-evaluated day after day. The goal is to rely on him in the match against Sport on Friday without sacrifices,” Teixeira said.

The president took part in the CBF Academy in São Paulo, where he spoke about resuming the club’s “historical DNA” as a talent creator. He stated that the Financial Fair Play recently announced by the Brazilian Football Confederation represents a milestone for a new era of management in Brazilian football.

According to Teixeira, Santos needs to correct the distortion that has arisen in recent years: the search for immediate results in youth categories.

– We changed the philosophy of talent detection to the only and exclusive search for results and titles in Al-Qaeda. It is a mistake for a club to plan its lineup by only thinking about the result. He stated that Santos should continue to be an authority in uncovering talent to change lives.

Teixeira pointed out that, over the course of 25 years, the club revealed two distinguished generations, “Robinho and Diego, Neymar and Ganso,” and important names such as Rodrigo and Gabigol, but of insufficient size to maintain competitiveness and social influence.

Football has a special reason, which is social work. He said that boys and girls are looking for a chance in life in big teams, and we have a duty to provide that.

The president also celebrated the new Financial Fair Play announced by the CBF on Wednesday, highlighting that Brazilian football is gaining a policy of control that can balance the competitive environment.

– It is an opportunity for clubs to correct the course. He concluded that Brazil needed a clear system of fiscal responsibility.
