Santos president updates Neymar’s position: “There was no pain”

Santos is going through a period of anxiety to know whether or not he will rely on Neymar in his battle against relegation. The star suffered a meniscus injury in the knee, and rumors suggested that he would not return to the field this year. However, the player trained with the team on Wednesday (26) and has the opportunity to play against Sport on Friday (28).

Club president Marcelo Teixeira confirmed that the star participated in the events. At a Brazilian Football Confederation event held in Sao Paulo, a representative of the Black and White confirmed that Neymar did not feel any pain and that the medical department would evaluate him to see if he was fit to play.

“The expectation, the hope. I am not a doctor and I do not even follow the decisions that should be exclusive to the Ministry of Health. Today he trained, which was a concern and he was not experiencing any pain. It is not the board that evaluates that, it is the medical department. Let us wait for the club’s professionals. There is a possibility, that is the expectation. Without any kind of sacrifice, something that would harm the player and Santos. We want everyone to be prepared for a battle like this,” he stressed.

However, Teixeira confirmed that Peixe will make sacrifices in order to count Neymar in the final rounds of the Brazilian League. The President stressed that if there is a need to intervene, it will be done immediately.

“If there is something more serious, we will not allow there to be a sacrifice, something so that he can be on the field. If there is a need for some intervention, it will be done immediately. This is not the case. It is not because Santos needs a result, so we do something unnatural or irregular, which could harm continuity,” he noted.
