The pitch at Vasco Stadium is undergoing renovations. The previous turf has already been removed and the new turf will be planted on Friday
The Sao Januario grass has been completely removed. As of Vasco’s next home game, the field will no longer be stained by a spike in the grass. This pigmentation did not interfere with the gameplay, but it bothered everyone at Cruz Maltino, from the board of directors to the fans.
With the change, São Januario Stadium will have the same turf as the five stadiums used in the 2014 World Cup. The turf was harvested in Sacarema, Lagos district of Rio de Janeiro, and will be transported in rolls 15 meters long and 1.20 meters wide.)
The grass is a Bermuda Celebration type and will be planted on Friday (14th). It is expected that by the 20th, the stadium will be ready, with one week remaining until Vasco’s match against Internacional, which will be held on the 28th of this month.
