Rui Costa says he will stay until the end of President Julio Casares’ term. The board of directors has a desire to innovate with the leader
São Paulo’s football executive, Rui Costa, will remain in his position next season. The manager confirmed that negotiations on the portfolio would continue in 2026.
The contract is valid until the end of next year, but Rui Costa’s work has been challenged, mainly due to São Paulo’s performances during the season. On the other hand, the Board of Directors believes that the mission has been completed well.
After all, the Tricolor leadership plans to renew the contract with Rui Costa, according to the website “ge”. Earlier this week, he confirmed that he was talking about the matter.
The executive said, in an interview with the podcast of journalist Chico Garcia and former player Denilson: “I am happy in São Paulo. I have a contract until 2026. The directors have called me to rethink this contract. I know they trust my work and I trust them.”
Rui Costa arrived in São Paulo in 2021, when President Julio Casares took over the presidency of Tricolor. The first contract was valid until 2023, but was renewed until the end of 2026, the year in which the current president’s term ends.
