The duel was very balanced. The first good chance of the match came just 37 minutes into the first half, when Delatorre took advantage of an attacking attempt and hit the post.
In the second half, Athletic almost opened the scoring with a pass from Marcelo Agul. The player received a cross from Gasolina, rose well and headed the ball to put Alverde’s goal in danger.
In the 31st minute of the second half, Everaldo sent a cross into the penalty area and Delatorre again blocked it dangerously.
Coritiba’s last chance to secure the cup came one round into stoppage time. Lucas Rewiner took advantage of the rebound, but the Minas Gerais goalkeeper made a wonderful save and preserved the tie.
An away draw keeps Athletic out of the relegation zone. The team from Minas Gerais faces the bottom club, which has already been relegated to Paysandu in the last round. On the other hand, Curitiba missed the opportunity to lift the competition cup at the Coto Pereira Stadium, but it seeks to win it in the confrontation against Amazonas, which was already relegated in the last round.
