A gunman killed two women and committed suicide inside the Civit (Federal Center for Technological Education Celso Soco da Fonseca) in Maracanã, north of Rio de Janeiro, on Friday afternoon (28).
The first information indicates that the victims are employees of the unit, and that the person responsible for the shooting has been removed from his position.
The Prime Minister reported that agents from the 6th BPM (Tijuca) were called after reports of gunfire inside the establishment. At the scene, police found two injured women, who were treated by the fire department and transferred to the hospital unit.
According to the institution, searches conducted in the school building led to the discovery of the body of a man believed to be responsible for the shooting.
Civit was hurriedly evacuated. The organization contacted the report but did not respond until this text was published.
Civil police said the capital’s homicide police were investigating the deaths of the three people. According to the institution, preliminary information indicates that the man entered the school armed, shot the victims, and then committed suicide.
Forensic medicine was called and efforts are still underway to investigate the case.
