The arrival of another cold front, driven by moisture from the Amazon, led to Inmet (National Meteorological Institute) issuing an orange warning of storm danger across the state of São Paulo on Tuesday (18).
According to forecasts by the São Paulo Climate Emergency Management Center, Tuesday should start with lots of clouds and drizzle and thermometers hovering around 18 degrees Celsius in the capital’s urban area. During the day there are periods of improvement and the sun appears between many clouds, and average maximum temperatures reach 24°C.
However, from the afternoon onwards, there are conditions for scattered showers and winds.
“A low pressure area keeps the weather unstable and encourages precipitation in the form of showers, especially in the afternoon. There are conditions for moderate to strong points with lightning and wind gusts that can exceed 50 km/h, keeping the potential for flooding and tree falls high,” the CEG highlights.
According to Inmet data, expected rainfall ranges between 30 and 60 mm/h or between 50 and 100 mm/day, with strong winds of 60 to 100 km/h and the possibility of hail.
Regarding temperatures, Inmet and Climatempo expect a maximum of 28°C.
CGE data shows that November recorded 41.2mm of rain as of Monday (17), which equates to about 30.4% of the 135.6mm expected.
As in Greater São Paulo, heavy rains are also expected during the day in all other regions of the state. Therefore, temperatures do not tend to rise much, except in coastal cities.
In Vale do Ribeira the expected variation ranges from 16°C to 24°C. In Santos, from 17°C to 33°C; In Guaruja, from 19°C to 24°C; In Bertioga and Ubatuba, from 13°C to 31°C.
In Campos do Jordão, in the Mantiqueira mountain range, the forecast calls for a minimum temperature of 9°C and a maximum of just 20°C. In São José dos Campos, in the Paraiba Valley, the marks should be 13°C and 28°C, respectively.
In Campinas (13°C to 25°C), Sorocaba (13°C to 23°C) and Bauru (12°C to 26°C), the variation tends to be similar.
As usually happens, the trend in the northern and northwestern regions is for warmer weather. Thus, in Franca, temperatures are expected to range from 13°C to 27°C; in Ribeirão Preto, from 14°C to 28°C; In Baritos, from 14°C to 29°C; In São José do Rio Preto, from 14°C to 28°C; and in Presidente Prudente from 14°C to 27°C; In Aracatuba, from 15°C to 28°C.
