Broadcasting companies DAZN and Telefónica, owner of the Movistar Plus+ platform, have renewed the broadcast rights to the Spanish football championship for five seasons, from 2027 to 2032, for 6.135 billion euros (38 billion Brazilian reals), the president of the Spanish League, Javier Tebas, announced on Friday (28).
“Telefónica and DAZN will renew their agreement to broadcast five matches in each round, strengthening their strategic partnership,” Tebas announced on Canal X.
He continued that the Spanish League “will exceed 6.135 billion euros in domestic audio-visual revenues in the 2027/28-2031/32 session, an increase of 9% over the previous period.”
Television rights have become a central issue in football, with the revenue generated representing a significant portion of the budgets of many professional clubs, both in Spain and other European leagues.
“At a time when many leagues are losing value, the continued growth of La Liga and the achievement of historical records is of particular importance,” Tebas said.
He added, “This result reflects the strength of our product and the confidence of broadcasters.”
DAZN and Movistar Plus+, owned by Spanish telecommunications giant Telefónica, are now the exclusive broadcasters in Spain broadcasting all 10 LaLiga matches every weekend, in a broadcast rights cycle that ends in 2027.
