The first four episodes of the final season of Stranger Things arrived on Netflix on Wednesday night (11/27) with a revelation that changes the course of the plot.

Just hours after the premiere, fans flooded social media with praise for the initial result. One of the most talked-about points is the development of Will Byers’ (Noah Schnapp) relationship with the Upside Down, which culminates in a surprise scene at the end of episode four.

Warning: This text contains spoilers for the final season of Stranger Things

Since Season 2, when he was possessed by the Mind Flayer, Will has already shown an unusual connection to parallel realities. Their visions never stopped and now this relationship reaches a new level.

In the final episode of this first wave, the group attempts to rescue children being held at a military base, after being attacked by the Demogorgon. The battle seems hopeless, until Will surprises everyone by developing an unprecedented ability: he begins controlling monsters, eliminating them, and saving other characters.

The discovery that Will possesses this kind of power surprised both fans and the characters themselves, and ended episode four in an epic mood. The excitement continues: Three more episodes will premiere on December 25, and the grand finale will be released on the 31st, New Year’s Eve.

That scene with Will, killing the Demorgogon, and being revealed to have powers, was awesome!

What a ridiculous scene with Will, I jumped off the couch, because he managed to do something that Eleven could never do, and the theory was that he had real powers
