The Board of Directors of El Corte Inglés unanimously approved the appointment Cristina Alvarez As non-executive chairman, replacing her sister Marta Alvarez. The replacement will become effective on January 15, 2026 It is part of an organized and ongoing process.
Cristina Alvarez thanked Marta for her “fantastic work” over the past six years and promised to carry out her position “with humility and to defend the interests of shareholders, employees and customers.”
In a letter to shareholders, Marta Alvarez explained that after more than six years at the helm and the recent formation of a new executive team, she sees this as the right time to open a new phase. It also highlights the “fantastic results” achieved, with the customer at the center and thanks to the team effort.
“With a management team ready to achieve the goals of the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan, the time has come to make room for my sister Christina as of January 15, 2026,” he concludes.
