The American attacked the former title holder in 1995
John Textor spoke out for the first time about the court’s decision, which states that the Sudanese Football Association of Botafogo will have to report all asset sales, including players, to the social club and the courts. The contributor did so in a mysterious way.
In the post, the owner of SAF published a photo next to Dorcesio Melo, the former president of the club, and two video clips in which he appears polishing the shoes of Carlos Augusto Montenegro, the club’s president, during the Brazilian league victory in 1995. The photos were recorded during the celebration of winning the Libertadores title last year.
“Thank you, Dorcesio! Father of the SAF hero, the greatest president ever and my beloved and loyal friend. Brother, I’m sorry, but, in all the enthusiasm for our victory (the title of the Libertadores), I shined the wrong shoe!”, tweeted Textor on Instagram.
Dorcesio Melo and Carlos Augusto Montenegro supported the candidacy of João Paulo Magalhaes for the position of club president, who won the election and took office this year. But the current president distanced himself from the American and went to court.
The process that the club took to court last July has progressed, and from now on, the Botafogo Federation will have to authorize the sale of assets and will have greater power within the Sudanese Football Association. In this regard, the Social Club claimed that due to the fight between John Textor, Eagle and Ares, foreign investors would no longer invest in the club.
