The book “Word and Power: A Critical Journey Through 40 Years of Brazilian Democracy” will be the topic of discussion at Espaço Folha, in the central region of Belém, on Wednesday, the 12th, at 10 am. With free entry, the event will be held during COP30.
There will be a discussion in the presence of three authors who have articles in the publication. They are indigenous leader and activist Alessandra Corap Munduruku, journalist and former federal MP Fernando Gabeira, and public policy coordinator at the Climate Observatory and former President of Ibama, Solly Araujo.
The mediator will be João Gabriel, a reporter specializing in climate, social and environmental issues.
“Word and Power” is a partnership between Bound With records publishing group. It was organized by Rodrigo Tavares, a professor and newspaper columnist. Flavia Lima, assistant writing secretary and diversity editor at Bound; Nayef Haddad, the newspaper’s special correspondent.
The book collects opinion texts published over the past four decades Bound. They were signed by names such as Celso Furtado, Franco Montoro, Oscar Niemeyer and Sulley Carneiro.
These historically important articles are analyzed in the publication in unpublished commentaries by authors such as João César de Castro Rocha, Laura Carvalho, Marcos Andre Melo, and Thula Pires. There are, in total, 40 pairs of texts.
After the discussion on Wednesday at Espaço Folha, there will be an autograph session.
On November 26 (Wednesday), at 6:30 p.m., the film “Word and Power” will be launched at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon.
The event will include a presentation by the Executive Editor of BoundVinicius Motta. Next there will be a discussion with rapper and writer Kapikwa; Writer, composer and co-curator of the “Complexo Brasil” exhibition, José Miguel Wisnik; Professor at the Universidade UEFA (Federal University of Bahia) and co-curator of the exhibition itself, Melina Brito; And Rodrigo Tavares.
Mediation will be by journalist and writer Mafalda Angus.
