
A Chinese robot entered the Guinness Book of World Records after covering a distance of more than 100 kilometers in three days, the longest distance ever traveled by a machine of this type. The 169-centimetre-long AgiBot A2 robot left the Chinese city of Suzhou on the night of November 10, moving along highways and streets before arriving at the historic Bund Park in Shanghai on November 13, according to Guinness World Records.

Shanghai-based AgiBot explained that its model “navigates across various surfaces (…) while respecting traffic rules” during a 106,286-kilometre journey.
The company published videos showing the A2 car driving difficultly along the road alongside cyclists and scooters, before it accelerated its pace and advanced along the famous Shanghai Park.
According to AgiBot, its A2 model is designed for customer service tasks and is equipped with a chat function. He is also able to read lips.
Big tech companies are investing huge sums in physical AI, and according to Morgan Stanley, the world could have more than a billion humanoid robots by 2050.
The Chinese government encourages its companies to develop humanoid robots, and in August, Beijing hosted the world’s first robotic “games”, with the participation of more than 500 “athletes” who competed in sports such as basketball or cleaning.
