The Federal Meeting Bloc, led by: Miguel PichitoThere are internal tensions as negotiations to merge with… Elected representatives of the United Provinces. Although the risk of disintegration is real, there are still options to rearrange the pieces into a new interlocking block with a “central” appearance.
The main focus of the conflict is who will ultimately lead this space: Bechetto intends to retain leadershipBut the governors of Santa Fe, Maximiliano Pollaro, and Córdoba, Martin Larriora, demand that leadership remain in the hands of a regional authority. In this context, they are promoting former Santa Fe Lieutenant Governor Gisela Scalia.
In the midst of a tug of war, The Man from the Rio Negro evaluates assembling a small bloc with Nicolas Massot and surveys the survivors of the Civil Alliance, Maximiliano Ferraro and Monica Fradi, to form a space of their own.
Far from copying secession, the tension could be deactivated by an overlapping bloc of “peer-to-peer” collective leadership, coordinated by Scalia or another regional figure, while Pichetto would retain leadership of the federal meeting and Ferraro would lead the civic coalition.
For their part, the governors of Santa Fe and Cordoba are insisting on maintaining the United Provinces brand, despite their poor electoral performance.
United Provinces Armed Forces
While the attempt to create an internal center bloc continues, the first meeting of the United Provinces Representatives Caucus was held this Wednesday. 17 national legislators participated in the meeting and it is very likely that more members will join in the coming days.
The definition of the final configuration and the space authorities will be left for next week, when an official presentation will also be given in the city of Buenos Aires. Among the names being circulated to head the bloc is Gisela Scalia, although the decision will be tied to how the group is ultimately formed. The meeting served as a first working table to define the agenda, goals and internal dynamics.
A highlight was the presence of governors Nacho Torres and Maximiliano Pollaro, who were in Buenos Aires and stopped by to say hello and briefly joined the meeting.
Other important movements in Congress
In parallel, the northern rulers are moving forward in a process of political realignment after their meetings with Diego Santilli and moving towards a final break with Peronism. This Thursday they will formalize the A.J Private interfaceThis is a step that may cause the Union to lose its first minority in parliament.
This group, headed by Gustavo Sainz from Salta, is holding talks with executive branch officials to coordinate positions. The new internal bloc will include 15 national representatives and will have a counterpart in both chambers. Representatives from Misiones and Neuquén, coming from Federal Innovation, will also be integrated into the Deputies, alongside their counterparts in the Senate.
The announcement will be made at the Casa de Salta in Buenos Aires, where Sainz will be the host, accompanied by the respective governors. The space is led by MP Pamela Caletti, whose term ends on December 10, and who could take on a new role: on behalf of the district leaders, she looks like a possible representative of the MPs to the Auditor General of the Nation (AGN), an organization that has not yet completed the appointment of its directors.
