The driver of the motorcycle used in the killing of Lais de Oliveira Gomez Pereira, 25, turned himself in to police late in the afternoon of November 7, the same day the arrest warrant was issued. In his testimony, Eric Santos Maria Lasnor stated that he looked on without reacting, while Davi de Souza Malto, the back seat passenger, shot the victim. However, the Metropolitan Police Homicide Team, which is in charge of the case, does not believe this story, which confirms that Eric possesses the weapon used in the crime.

Agents acknowledged inconsistencies in the testimony of the boy, who tried to clear himself of the charges by saying he was afraid of Davey and felt “coerced” by him to obey orders. According to the police, Eric had a chance to escape from the killer, but he preferred to wait for him after the crime. Furthermore, he would hide the tattoo on his arm to make identification difficult – in his testimony, the suspect stated that he covered the tattoo to protect it from the sun.
Eric explained in his statement that Duffy, who he has a mutual friend with, needs a trip to Sebitipa on November 4th. When he found him, he noticed he was wearing a red shirt, black pants, and a black hat, but Eric wouldn’t have noticed if he had a concealed weapon.
After riding the motorcycle, Davey had ordered Eric down the street where he later discovered Laís. The entire flight, according to what the pilot said in his statement, was piloted by Davey. At some point, he allegedly asked to stop the vehicle, got off the motorcycle and handed Eric a piece of plastic to place on her license plate.
“At this moment, the Declarant was frightened and afraid of (David) Malto; that the Declarant feared for his life, believing Malto was going to kill him, as Malto was known as a murderer; that the Declarant did not understand what was happening; that the Declarant felt coerced by Malto; that Malto walked up to the victim and executed him while the Declarant looked on without reacting; and that the Declarant became desperate and went to Malto.”
After the crime, Davey and Eric escaped and went to different places. The first one would even change his shirt, replacing the red shirt with a black shirt, while the second one left the motorcycle and asked his girlfriend to take him by car.
Davey was arrested after his mother recognized him on TV in a video about Lace’s execution. Disappointed, she handed her son over to the police and filed an emotional report apologizing to the Lace family.
-I want to ask this father for forgiveness. This Laís family that cries. Because if I am in pain, I know that their pain is much greater. Because her children will live without their mother. I wasn’t created a criminal, guys. My son was a good boy — the woman told g1.
