
“We are in contact with X because the company is obligated to act against risks related to Grok,” European Commission spokesman Thomas Regnier said. He added: “Grock’s production is terrible. Such content contradicts basic rights and values in Europe.”
There was no immediate response from X to a request for comment on the EU statement on Grok.
In July, posts on the account of the Grok chatbot, developed by Elon Musk’s company xAI, were removed after complaints from X users and the Anti-Defamation League, alleging that Grok produced content containing anti-Semitic stereotypes and praising Adolf Hitler. At the time, xAI said it was taking steps to block hate speech before Grok posted it on X.
