
The Federal Government on Sunday released the balance for the first day of the 2025 National Secondary School Examination (Enem). The percentage of abstention from voting was 27%, repeating the percentage of the last three editions (26.6% in 2024, 28.1% in 2023, and 28.3% in 2022). The data were presented by the Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, and the head of the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research AnÃsio Teixeira (Inep), Manuel Palacios, at a press conference.
The absenteeism rate reached 27%, a percentage that was repeated in 2024. Abstention was stable, and this is a historical percentage. Everything went very smoothly – said the Minister of Education.
Santana stressed that although the percentage of absences remains stable, there is a slight discrepancy in the historical series. This decreased from 23 to 24, i.e. 1%, and practically remained at 27% this year. He said: We differ between 27% and 30%. The Minister stressed that even with a similar abstention rate, the total number of registrants had increased, leading to an increase in the number of active participants.
According to the Minister of Education, the test took place without serious complications, and 3,240 participants were excluded for violating the exam rules.
—He was a great enemy. There were very few complications. Palacios added that there were one or two problems related to electricity, problems with cancellation due to the candidate taking something he could not or having a dispute with the applicant.
Santana also announced that the official answer key will be released on Thursday, November 13, and that the tests will be retaken on December 16 and 17 for participants who encountered logistical problems. The deadline to submit a resubmission application will be November 17-21.
Due to the hurricane that struck Paraná, the Minister expressed his solidarity with those affected and informed that 198 students from the city of Rio Bonito, who will take the exam in another municipality, will be able to participate in the re-application. – Yesterday I called the governor to express our solidarity – he said.
Due to COP30, the cities of Belém, Ananendua and Maritoba in Pará will hold the exam on November 30 and December 7. The final delivery of the Enem 2025 results is scheduled for January 2026.
Among the security measures, Camilo Santana highlighted the increase in the number of applicants and the use of metal detectors in all testing rooms.

The first phase of Enem 2025 had questions about languages, symbols and their technologies, the humanities and their technologies, as well as writing. Candidates will return to the testing sites next Sunday, for the second day of the exam, where their knowledge in the areas of mathematics and its techniques and natural sciences and its techniques will be tested.
This year, more than 3.9 million candidates have registered to take the exam, which will be taken on two consecutive Sundays – November 9 and 16 – with 180 multiple-choice and essay questions.
