The first poll of the second round of the Chilean presidential election gave Cast an advantage of 12 points

The first poll published for the second round of Chile’s presidential elections scheduled for December 14 showed that far-right candidate José Antonio Cast intends to vote by 46 percent, compared to 34 percent for leftist coalition candidate Janet Jara.

20 percent will not vote, do not know whether they will vote or not, will vote invalidly or empty, according to the study prepared by the demographic company Kadem. If these last votes were not taken into account, Kast would win by 16 points (58 to 42 percent). Furthermore, 62% of those surveyed believe that Caste will be the next president of Chile, compared to 28% who believe that Jara will be.

Regarding the inclinations of voters for candidates who did not go to the second round, 34 percent of Franco Baresi voters will vote for Cast, while 22 percent will vote for Jara, and 44 percent declare themselves undecided, null or white.

Support for Kast is clearest among those associated with Johannes Kaiser’s National Libertarian Party, where he has 92% support, while for Conservative Evelyn Mathie, 60% would support Kast and 21% for Jara.

The poll also measures the performance of outgoing President Gabriel Buric. 33 percent approve of his administration, one point more than in October, while the disapproval rate was 60 percent, four points lower than last week.
