Jacob Elordi, who terrorized Netflix audiences as the monster in Frankenstein, is one of the biggest bets of Hollywood’s new generation. In addition to starring in the gothic horror adaptation directed by Guillermo del Toro, the actor will soon star alongside Margot Robbie (Barbie, The Wolf of Wall Street) in the film adaptation of Wuthering Heights.
But the Australian star faced a series of challenges before he was able to achieve stardom. In an interview with North American magazine GQ, Elordi recalled what it was like when he moved from Australia to the United States in search of fame at the age of nineteen.

Once in Los Angeles, Jacob Elordi was cast in 2018 to play Joey King’s partner in the teen romantic comedy Barraca do Beijo. The film arrived on Netflix just two years later, and in the meantime, the actor remained unemployed and struggling to stay afloat in the American city.
“I think, I don’t know, I had between $400 and $800 left in my bank account. I was living in my car for a week or two,” he said.
He was about to return to Australia, when a series arrived that would change the actor’s life. “Euphoria was my last audition before I went home for a while to get some money and recover,” he told the magazine.
“I was like everyone else, so Sam (Levinson, the show’s creator) asked me to come back and then I read (the script) with him two or three more times. I was very lucky,” he revealed.
Jacob Elordi was one of the first to be cast in the HBO series. During the recording of the series, the production provided a hotel room for the actor, who has since gone on to have a string of successful roles in Hollywood.
