Pará Governor Helder Barbalo (MDB) has responded to criticism from United States President Donald Trump. The North American used social media to criticize the construction of a road “in the middle” of the Amazon rainforest.
In a post on Sunday (September 11) in the newspaper Truth Social, the Republican wrote: “They (Brazil) destroyed the Amazon forest to build a highway for environmental activists. This has become a huge scandal.”

Barbalo added: “You can celebrate the historic decline in deforestation in the Amazon – with a focus on the state of Pará, which had its best result. Or, at least, follow the example of the government of Brazil and invest more than a billion US dollars to save forests around the world. There is still time to go to COP30, President Trump. We are waiting for you with Takaka. Better to act than to deploy.”

Trump’s criticism
On the eve of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), in Belém, which starts on Monday (11/10), President Donald Trump has criticized Brazil online.
Trump’s comment came in response to a video broadcast by the American station Foz News, located in Belem, covering the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30).
On the record, journalists criticize Brazil and claim that the environment minister, Marina Silva, “bragged about cutting down thousands of trees to build this four-lane road for the COP30 to show how the government takes care of the forest.”
