This Sunday (16), we witnessed history being made in the intermediate category of international motorcycle racing. With Brazilian Diogo Moreira’s title confirmed, the big question remains: How important is this achievement for future generations in national motorcycle racing?
The 21-year-old moved to Spain in 2017, when he was still just 13 years old, giving up a lot of things, including being close to his family, to fulfill his dream, which is to be in first class one day.
Today, after becoming the first Brazilian rider to win a world title in the motorcycle category, Diogo Moreira has not only dedicated the trophy, but also reflected Brazil at the international level and shown that with resilience, we can still dream of having more names in the future.
During the celebration, the Brazilian also made sure to glorify his flag and its colours, by showing the number 10 shirt alongside big names such as Pele and Ronaldinho Gaucho, making it clear that we are not only a country of football, but also a country of motorsport.
Furthermore, Moreira will introduce himself this week to the LCR Honda team, the team with which he will race in the MotoGP championship in 2026, a year that marks the return of the premier class to the country, and where the São Paulo native will make his first appearance in front of Brazilian fans.
The Brazilian Grand Prix will take place between 20 and 22 March 2026, at the Autodromo Internacional Ayrton Senna, in Goiânia, with a packed house not only for big names like Marc Márquez, Alex Márquez, Francisco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin, but also to celebrate their future prodigy.
