It is rare for a museum to organize a commercial exhibition of contemporary art. But that’s the way it is silverAnd in its third edition, he showed that it is possible. Led by the Cultural Institute of the Province of Buenos Aires through the Emilio Pitorotti Provincial Museum of Fine Arts, It is celebrated this weekend in La Plata Argentine Theater. It also raises its own flags: inclusion and decentralization.
It opened yesterday and runs tomorrow from 2-8pm on Av. 51 between 9 and 10, La Plata, with more than thirty pavilions for exhibitions and publishers. Participation and entry to the exhibition are free. Tomorrow, Sunday, there will be a show at 4 p.m. Written by Fernando Tremendo in the Club de la Pintura platform. At 8 pm the conclusion will be in the Piazzolla room with A desperate path By Lucia Seles.
It is a private museum, and it retains the seal of its director from the 1930s, the most famous cubist in these lands. Emilio Pettorotti. “In a way, the policies recover the strategy of unifying the market and the state, and art as a form of consumption. On the first floor we have a display cabinet that displays the historical episodes of the museum, recommending and encouraging the buying and selling of works of art between the 1930s and the 1960s. There was a brochure that said: ‘Are you interested in regional salons, are you interested in art, well, you can buy the works,'” he points out. Federico Rovitozzo, current director. This year’s exhibition includes the 2025 Regional Visual Arts Hall Awards and its exhibition in the entrance hall. There are many artists that coincide on both floors. For example, Francesco Ratti, one of the exhibition’s winners, is a gallery owner and artist at the gallery.
Platada’s goal is similar to that of all the federal galleries that have emerged strongly in recent years: to create a market for local art. Two founding curators, Virginia Martin and Facundo Belén, are working on it, artists and managers from La Plata. “This edition has taken a step forward in terms of the quality of display of projects, clusters and stands,” says Belén. “We are beginning to see the path taken by the projects of the province of Buenos Aires, which is part of the ultimate goal of the fair: to professionalize it. Beyond sales, it is also a training residency.”
The gallery is still young, but being a university town, there is a large population of art professionals. “La Plateada stands out in the craftsmanship of the artists’ works. It is very clear that the vast majority of the artists, they have received training. By having training, you take care of the craftsmanship,” notes art collector Abel Guaglianone.
Of the 24 participating art spaces, 11 are from La Plata: Vincent, Club de la Pintura, Planta Alta, Residencia Corazón, NN, Montón, speech, Cocomel, Crystal, Geometras and Rad Taller. Residents of Buenos Aires who joined the meeting in the provincial capital were María Casado (Picar), Calamo (San Nicolas), Mapa (Las Flores), Cristio (Sierra de la Ventana/Turnquest), Isidoro (Coronel Suarez), La Pontiana (General Villegas), Departamento 112 (Martínez) and Ministerio de la Bavada (Necochea). Among other cities, there are Sala Bellucci (CABA), Jamaica (Rosario), OHNO (CABA), Primore (Itinerante), Acéfala (CABA) and La Portland (Entre Ríos). There are also publishers such as Morpurgo, Patio Interno, Barba de Abejas, Belleza y Felicidad, Cariño, Artefacto, Avenircuaderno, El Cable, Segunda Época, and Papel Cosido.
When they say inclusion, there is a subtle difference that can be noticed: that of older artists. For example, in the Isidoro gallery there is an 80-year-old emerging artist, Zulma Echeberi, from Coronel Suarez: she is a gardener and artist, and next to her flower paintings are pots. Crystal Gallery recreates the lady’s fantasy: “Women who curate their own works in their homes, paying homage to the feminine aesthetic of the home,” says Ezequiel Chiodi, author of Wall Paintings… Made with a Pen. Paul Oviedo, author of Cherubim made with the Mapuche ceramic technique, received an award from this exhibition.
CLAAAM brings together the leaders of Javi Samaniego García’s workshops, over 80 years old, and for this project they won one of the In Situ Awards. There are crochet folders and paintings naive And others that look like they are from a young neighborhood, such as bare of popular colors. “It’s an art clinic for seniors that runs in Passaje d’Ardo Rocha. I’m interested in reclaiming crochet and handmade works. For example, Noemi frames her own works. I also love her search for delicacy.” Samaniego had already won last year with his other workshop, Art and Architecture Gallery, a project that works with people with disabilities or survivors of the mental health system. And upstairs, he is one of the salon’s selected artists.
There’s also a share: Taller RAD, the screen printing laboratory run by Paola Giorgi, invites you to print images taken from the museum’s archive on sheets and T-shirts. The collaboration is evident in Vincent’s space, where Emilia Hendrich and Roberta Valenti exchanged oil paintings via mail. There are total projects, such as large immersive and textured installations Bafada Ministryto simple pieces like Patricio Cividanis’s piece from Primor: an oil painting with a nail brush on sugar packets, and a series of exquisite little cups.
Sales were tepid, but are expected to pick up on Sunday, the final day. “We helped bring prints“, they say in La Portlán, which has the work of one artist, Lázaro Ollier. Red dots are seen in works such as those of Daniel Feit, in Isidoro, who paints the Sierra Payas with stones from his quarry. There are more Buenos Aires landscapes in the Mapa Gallery, in Las Flores, and in the award-winning Cristio, in Sierra de la Ventana, which deserves the In Situ Award for patronage. On the other hand, Juan Boto chose La Pontiana Scan Villegas who spend time in La Plata because they are art students.
the The In Situ prizes, presented by sponsors Guaglianone and Joaquín Rodríguez, are worth 500,000 pesos each and are part of a tour of more than a dozen federal fairs. “We miss the Salta and Cordoba fairs as we finish the year,” says Rodriguez. “Since we started in 2022, we have already given away 60 awards.” “At the galleries in Corrientes and Chaco, the average audience is 3 to 4 thousand people a day,” says Guglianoni. “You understand the interest, the desire, the need and how they are received. It’s different prices, you have works worth 60,000 pesos, 100,000 pesos, excellent quality, by local artists. It creates what we intend regional galleries to create: community.”
The Platada 2025 award, presented by Marcela di Capua, Pablo Mazza and Federico Rovitoso, went to El Club de la Pintura and Gabriel Colasurdo. Starting at 8pm, the Night of Museums fills the city with art. The closing ceremony of the exhibition will be held in the Sputnik Gallery, with an exhibition by guest artist Julian Matta.
On Sunday, tours to different spaces in the city of La Plata are added to the exhibition’s activity. The exhibition is at the UNLP Arts Center (48th Street between 6th and 7th) Luis Bazos. Bio hair.
