In a statement, the People’s Party of Toledo appreciates very positively that Justice has made it clear that the People’s Spokesman acted within his duties and with full legitimacy, defending the interests of neighbors and demanding transparency in municipal administration, and also regrets that this situation has arisen, which has had to give a judicial character to what should have been a normal political debate within the City Council.
Of particular concern is that the computer secretary and mayor, instead of facilitating dialogue and accountability, chose a path that ended up being resoundingly rejected by the courts. In the case of demonstrations related to the mayor, the ruling makes it clear that the expressions refer to a specific act, not to his person, and that they were made in the context of legitimate political control.
Although the ruling is not yet final, as it is subject to appeal, its strength makes it clear that the appeal will only mean prolonging the attempt to curb the opposition’s work.
Legal setback for the Socialist Workers Party
For all these reasons, the People’s Party of Toledo expressed its appreciation to the popular spokesperson for his hard, responsible and courageous work, always focused on defending the rights of the people of La Nava de Ricomalillo. Despite being subjected to pressure and baseless accusations, he maintained an impeccable performance and focused on seeking clarifications on municipal decisions that directly affected local citizens.
