Education Minister, Camilo Santana (PT), announced on Sunday that students from Rio Bonito do Iguaçu (PR), who were affected by a strong hurricane, will be able to take the National Secondary School Examination (Enem) in December.
– Reapplication has already been defined. Just yesterday we called the governor and the secretary. And I made the entire ministry available to rebuild the worst-hit city, Rio Bonito. We did not have a request for this test. The Minister stated that all those who will reapply will be on December 16 and 17, 2025. According to him, there were 198 students registered in the municipality.
– In addition to participants from ParanĂ¡, any participant affected by any logistical problem or affected by any illness foreseen in the notification. There is a deadline to order, from November 17 to 21 – added Santana.
The tornado left at least six people dead and left extensive damage across the region on Friday. The city’s two public schools were destroyed after the hurricane struck. In an official note, the Parana government also reported that 437 people were injured, nine of them in serious condition. It is estimated that at least 10,000 people have been affected, according to Civil Defense. On Saturday morning, Parana State Governor Ratinho Junior (PSD) declared a general state of disaster in the city.
“We are here to conduct a local survey of the damaged infrastructure. Since about 90% of the city is affected, a state of general disaster has been declared, allowing us to accelerate assistance and release resources. I have already decided that Cohapar (ParanĂ¡’s housing company) is studying strategies for rebuilding homes and we are preparing the accommodation to ensure the support of families,” he told Ratinho Junior.
The Federal Government on Sunday released the balance for the first day of the 2025 National Secondary School Examination (Enem). The percentage of abstention from voting was 27%, repeating the percentage of the last three editions (26.6% in 2024, 28.1% in 2023, and 28.3% in 2022). The data were presented by the Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, and the head of the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research AnĂsio Teixeira (Inep), Manuel Palacios, at a press conference.
The absenteeism rate reached 27%, a percentage that was repeated in 2024. Abstention was stable, and this is a historical percentage. Everything went very smoothly – said the Minister of Education.
Santana stressed that although the percentage of absences remains stable, there is a slight discrepancy in the historical series. This decreased from 23 to 24, i.e. 1%, and practically remained at 27% this year. He said: We differ between 27% and 30%. The Minister stressed that even with a similar abstention rate, the total number of registrants had increased, leading to an increase in the number of active participants.
According to the Minister of Education, the test took place without serious complications, and 3,240 participants were excluded for violating the exam rules.
—He was a great enemy. There were very few complications. Palacios added that there were one or two problems related to electricity, problems with cancellation due to the candidate taking something he could not or having a dispute with the applicant.
Santana also announced that the official answer key will be released on Thursday, November 13, and that the tests will be retaken on December 16 and 17 for participants who encountered logistical problems. The deadline to submit a resubmission application will be November 17-21.
