The Federal Police on Wednesday (11/12) launched “Operation Nemesis” to investigate the possible practice of embarrassing the investigation into a criminal organization allegedly involved in the diversion of public resources from Covid-19 and parliamentary amendments, used to pay money to companies contracted to provide baskets of basic foodstuffs at the time of the pandemic.
According to PF, federal agents are executing 24 search and seizure warrants, issued by the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) of Palmas (TO) and Santa Teresa do Tocantins (TO).

Developments
The investigations began during the launch of the second phase of Operation Celebrity-19, last September 3, where the police forces found evidence indicating that some of the persons investigated used their official positions and vehicles to transport and transfer documents and materials of interest, which caused embarrassment to the investigations into the activities of the criminal organization, which are still ongoing and are being processed under confidentiality in the Special Court for Syrians for Truth and Justice.
In the previous phase of the operation, the then governor of Tocantins, Wanderlei Barbosa (Republican), was the target of searches and was removed from office. He denied any wrongdoing.
According to the National Front, this Wednesday’s measures aim to stop actions aimed at destroying and concealing evidence and assets, in addition to collecting new elements that contribute to clarifying the facts, especially with regard to the participation of suspects and the possible actions of other agents who were not previously identified.
