The Federal Council of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) has sent a letter to the Supreme Court of Justice (STJ) requesting that identity badges begin distinguishing between the gender of lawyers. The order requires women to begin wearing badges bearing the word “Attorney.”
According to the Anti-Corruption Bureau, currently, the badges used by STJ identify the profession with the male gender only.
The letter was sent to the head of Syrians for Truth and Justice, Minister Herman Benjamin, last week. In the document, the Amman Arab Bureau stated that “the way public institutions appoint their specialists affects the perception of inclusion in the legal environment.”

According to the National Register of Lawyers, women make up the majority of the profession, numbering 764,922 lawyers, representing 52% of the class. He pointed out that “the Anti-Corruption Office confirms that the request does not impose obligations on the court, but rather provides the option of identification consistent with the gender recorded in the professional registration, which would increase coherence between identification systems.”
When communicating with Syrians for Truth and Justice, I informed them that the request had arrived on the 12th of this month and was in the security zone for evaluation.
