In view of the explosion that occurred on Friday, November 14, in the Carlos Spegazzini Industrial Park in the Ezeiza District, the Professional Council of Chemistry of the Province of Buenos Aires reiterated in a statement “the urgent need to regulate the industrial chemical activity of the Province of Buenos Aires, in accordance with the law and current safety and environmental protocols.”
In this vein, the collective entity recalled that “incidents of this kind occur in a naturalized manner on the territory of the province, as a result of the generalized framework of “freedom” and the consequent absence of controls and demands related to professional activity that must be carried out by duly registered and trained employees.”

In this regard, the President of the Professional Council for Chemistry, Dr. Carlos Colangelo, stated, “Unfortunately, in our organization we are accustomed to recording this type of event, and we are also tired of asking the competent authorities to waive conducting periodic controls, so that the industrial arc complies with the mandatory registration of employees required by law, and with the basic requirements to ensure the implementation of safe and high-quality operations.”
In this context, Colangelo highlighted “the indispensable role that councils and colleges play in monitoring professional activity,” highlighting that what happened in the Ezeiza Industrial Complex “is a clear example among many that prove that absolute freedom from regulation is an irreversible path that leads to precarious work and services, and leads to suffering unfortunate environmental, personal and infrastructural consequences, such as those we have witnessed in recent hours.”
