The recognized (and unacknowledged) reasons that prompted Alcolombre to go to war

Among the many phrases coined by MP Ulysses Guimarães, leader of the opposition to the military dictatorship of 1964 and then officer of the so-called New Republic, there is one that will never lose its validity: “In politics, even anger is something that is rehearsed.”

And I remember another story, dating back to the mid-1980s, that is completely applicable since then. To those who complained about the poor quality of Congress at that time, Ulysses replied: “It is because you have not seen the next Congress yet.” Bingo!

In fact, the quality of Congress has deteriorated and, strangely enough, its powers have increased. More powers, less burdens, that was the recipe. And the powers that it extracts or attempts to extract from other state institutions.

Congress took advantage of the weakness of the accidentally elected president to allocate a huge portion of the budget for him to manage at will. He is now facing a president who is resisting his overthrow, and hence the clashes are recurring.

The issue of filling the vacancy in the Federal Supreme Court due to the retirement of Minister Luis Roberto Barroso is currently being discussed. The Constitution says that choosing the next minister is up to the President of the Republic.

The Senate shall be responsible for being heard in the Committee on the Constitution and Justice and for approving by majority vote in plenary the opinion it receives from the Committee. In 134 years, only five names chosen by the president were rejected.

David Alcombre (Uniao-AP), President of the Senate, threatens to do everything in his power to reject the name of Jorge Messias, Attorney General of the Federation, nominated by Lula, at a session scheduled for December 10. Under what pretext? Without any decent pretext.

Alcombre claims that Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), former president of the Senate, would be a better name. He claims that Lula did not consult him when he should have done so. He claims that Lula was rude because he had not been informed of Christ’s choice yet. And so on.

These are Alcolombre’s plausible excuses. What not to mention: Alcumbri is upset by the government’s delay in releasing budget adjustment payments. He wants more government positions in addition to the ones he already holds, which are many.

Let’s say it’s not honest anger. It is anger trained to take advantage of the situation. It’s a sign that you want to negotiate from a position of strength. There’s nothing Lola doesn’t know. There is nothing he cannot manage, and he will do it in due time.

Holiday flowers are a topic that tends to attract a lot of attention in the press when Congress goes on vacation. After the break, they disappear as if by magic. This year, the holiday flowers seem to be sprouting earlier than their time.
