Today, Tuesday, the South Korean authorities resumed the search for four workers who were buried after the collapse of a thermal power plant in Ulsan, southeastern Asian country, last Thursday, while it was being dismantled.
South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported that missions were resumed once the controlled demolition of two other boiler towers was carried out to ensure the safety of rescue personnel.
In all, 70 rescuers were mobilized to search for workers trapped after the collapse at the power plant of the East and West Korea Power Company, which left at least three people dead.
The accident occurred when the structure of the tower, which was approximately 60 meters high and was in the process of being demolished, collapsed, trapping several employees under the rubble and metal remains of the construction.
The tower in question had been decommissioned in 2021, after four decades of service, and was being weakened as part of the dismantling process when the collapse occurred.
