Leaders are usually leaders because of their ability to be leaders, not because of their ability to do so command. Often times, what a leader is interested in is being a leader, not being a leader. Be and don’t…
I have been teaching for over twenty years … Training in companies around the world regarding leadership, and if there is a need to train our leaders, it is because many leaders have the skills to become leaders and are good at getting to the podium, but not at leading. And of course, once they reach their goal, they don’t know what to do or how to lead…
Being a leader often requires a certain personality structure. Many leaders have narcissistic traits. Yes, I know, don’t tell me not all of them; I have also met people with a strong will to serve. But being a leader gives so much more Vision And power, and the narcissist loves that.
To aspire to a leadership position, you have to be certain that you will be able to lead a team, and to have that certainty, you have to either have very high self-esteem, or very low self-esteem – that’s how I get the recognition and respect I need – or be very bold – on the verge of recklessness – or very naive, or in the best case, have extensive experience in leadership – action, invisibility – and a lot of skills and abilities that not everyone has. Yes, they can be learned, which is why I am committed to training leaders; Well, for this reason and so that the people he leads can do better.
To be a leader, you also have to be certain skills. Let’s not forget that someone has to decide who will be the next leader of the team, department or NGO. An aspiring leader must position themselves close to that person, gain exposure, interest them, or create a good promotion.
The person who chooses the leader has some ObjectivesNails Priorities And some Motives Which, once discovered by the applicant, must only be fulfilled. Maybe he doesn’t want to get into trouble, maybe he wants someone who doesn’t question him, who is easy to manage or who doesn’t bother him. If the applicant fits those needs, then he or she has already secured the position, regardless of whether he or she will later work as a leader or not.
But what is it? Competencies Who is the leader? Well, the leader will be responsible for focusing the group towards the goals. Sometimes he drives, sometimes he goes out. Yes, do not put your hands on your head. Not everyone can be led and you cannot always be a leader. It’s been talked about for a long time Situational leadershipWhich is to show that, depending on the maturity of the team or person or the difficulty of the task, sometimes we must direct and sometimes we must lead.
To be a good leader, it is necessary to have a good level Technical fieldknowledge of the human condition, communication skills, ability to motivate, great communication, great level of emotional self-control, ability to manage Conflictsawakening dreams, correcting them when necessary, and many other things. And that’s where I come in, and I remember that they lead people who do that, but they also feel and think. They feel and think. This is the key to a good leader: being sensitive to how his team feels and thinks.
This does not mean that all leaders, absolutely, are like this. Now don’t come and tell me that you’re not, that I actually believe that, that this is not an attack on world leaders. Don’t worry man.
All I want is for us not to blindly trust the leader, not to lose our ability to think and analyze, and for us to be responsible when we choose a leader.
Leaders, whether from an NGO, a sports club, a company or a professional association, need oversight and control mechanisms, because they are still people, with their own virtues and faults, with their own priorities and needs.
