Tigre surprises Lanus and reaches the quarter-finals

Buenos Aires, November 26 (EVI).- Tigre defeated Lanus, the new champion of the Copa Sudamericana, 0-1 at home today, Wednesday, in the last match that completed the quarter-finals of the Argentine Clausura Football Championship.

A single goal scored by David Romero in the 48th minute was enough for the Matador team to win at home over Lanus, who had just won the international title on Saturday after defeating Brazil’s Atletico Mineiro in the final in Asuncion.

Next Monday, Tigre will be a guest at Racing Club, which just beat River Plate 3-2 in the round of 16.

The quarter-final matches will begin next Saturday when Estudiantes de La Plata, which caused the surprise by defeating Rosario Central 0-1, visits Central Cordoba, which in Santiago del Estero ousted San Lorenzo after winning 2-1.

On Sunday, Boca Juniors will seek to take a new step in the final tournament when it hosts Argentinos Juniors in La Bombonera, after both successively advanced past the round of 16 against Talleres de Córdoba (2-0) and Velez Sarsfield (0-2).

Finally, on Monday, in addition to the aforementioned match between Tigre and Racing Club, it will face two of the biggest surprises of the competition in the first round: Barracas Central against Gimnasia and Esgrima La Plata, who won on the first day of direct elimination respectively over Deportivo Ristra (0-1) and Unión de Santa Fe (1-2).

The champion of this tournament will face Apertura winner Platense on December 20 at Únicos de San Nicolás.

This match will dedicate the winner of the Champions Trophy. Evie
