Turkey’s Anadolu Efes sacks its coach Igor Kokoshkov

Sports Editorial, November 27 (Efe).- Anadolu Efes announced the dismissal of Serbian coach Igor Kokoskov, leaving the Turkish team in 15th place in the Europa League, after a 102-66 loss to Monaco on Wednesday.

Kokoskov, a European champion with Slovenia in 2017 who a year later became the first European to coach a team in the NBA, when he was in charge of the Venice Suns, left Anatolia after only five months in charge in which he did not achieve consistency either in the Euroleague, with 5 wins and 8 defeats, or in the Turkish Super League, where he ranks fourth.

The Istanbul team will now be under the management of former Slovenian coach and assistant coach of Anatolia Efes, Radovan Trifunovic, until it is determined who will be the new coach.

Trifunovic, a former player and coach since 2008, served as coach of Slovenia from 2017 to 2020. In recent years he was part of the coaching staff of big teams such as Fenerbahce and Bahcesehir as an assistant until his arrival at Anadolu Efes in 2025.
