Kiev authorities described scenes of devastation following the second air strike that hit the Svyatoshin region, with the head of the local military administration, Timur Tkachenko, saying that four people were killed and three wounded. According to information issued by the city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, six people were killed in the Ukrainian capital as a result of two Russian attacks that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, while ten people were injured. According to the media, Klitschko announced the death toll on his Telegram channel shortly after he warned of the resumption of air strikes by Russian forces, which launched a “combined” action against Kiev.
The media indicated that both Klitschko and Kachenko emphasized the impact of the second attack, highlighting the seriousness of the fires and material damage recorded in buildings in the western part of the city. The military commander stated that two people were killed during the first night attack, while seven people were injured, including a minor. In addition, Tkachenko denounced the Russian military directing attacks against infrastructure and residential areas, which directly affected the civilian population. The official urged citizens to remain under protection and not leave the shelters until the end of the day, according to the media.
For its part, the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy used its channel on the Telegram application to warn of a “massive joint attack” targeting energy sector facilities. The agency added that as soon as security conditions allow, technical teams will begin assessing the damage and restoring services in the damaged infrastructure.
The context of these attacks coincided with recent negotiations between Ukrainian representatives, the European Union and other Community partners. After some hesitation, President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the international support, but requested more effective intervention, especially from the United States, with the aim of stopping air attacks on Ukrainian territory. Zelensky said, according to the media: “I appeal, especially to the American side, to intervene and help prevent further bombings in Ukraine,” highlighting the risks the country faces as a result of military actions and ongoing threats.
The repercussions of the attacks included the destruction and burning of many civilian buildings, which raised concern among municipal authorities about the possibility of new explosions in the coming hours. The outlet reported that local communities remained on alert as emergency services worked to control the fire, assist the injured, and determine the extent of the material damage.
The development of events prompted official institutions to repeatedly call on residents to take the utmost caution and adhere to safety instructions. In addition, the authorities reported that further attacks were not unlikely, which is why they asked residents to limit travel and stay in protected areas.
Media reported that after the events, international concern about Kiev’s security and its support for Ukraine was once again at the center of diplomatic agendas. Restoration and emergency response efforts continued throughout the day, with specialized teams and volunteers mobilized to deal with the immediate consequences of the attacks.
