Madrid, November 11 (European Press) –
The Ukrainian armed forces on Monday confirmed the presence of more than 300 Russian soldiers inside the besieged city of Pokrovsk, one of the few remaining Ukrainian strongholds in the largely Russian-occupied Donetsk region whose control is key in both logistical and symbolic terms.
Ukrainian authorities reported that Russian forces used “adverse weather conditions” to successfully intensify their attempts to reach Pokrovsk, a mining and industrial region essential for communications to what remains of Kiev in the Donbass.
Russian forces entered the southern part of the city. Their goal is still to reach the northern border and then try to encircle the front, the 7th Corps of Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine explained in its Telegram account.
However, Ukrainian forces continue to fight Russian forces raiding the city, and 162 Russian soldiers have been killed in combat, as well as 39 wounded, since the beginning of November.
