The Valladolid City Council has opened a permanent exhibition at the Calderon Theater, which includes a wide range of awards, prizes and certificates of appreciation that the artist Concha Velasco has received throughout her career. The exhibition is located in a designated space … To do this, he collects pieces donated by the actress’s family, with the aim of preserving the legacy of one of the most beloved and important artists of the Spanish stage and sharing it with the public.
He attended the ceremony held this afternoonMayor of Valladolid Jesús Julio Carneiro, sons of the artist and other members of his family, including his cousin Esperanza Varona. The opening ceremony deliberately coincided with Concha Velasco’s birthday, giving the event a particularly sentimental meaning.
The exhibition was created in a very symbolic place: the Calderón Theater, a space that Concha Velasco herself has defined on numerous occasions as her “home”. On the facade of the building you can still read the phrase chosen by the actress, “Mom, I want to be an artist!”, Sindhu reflected Deep he always maintained his connection with his hometown and with this theater in which he worked on many occasions and for which he showed a special affection.
During his speech, the mayor stressed that “Valladolid today returns to Concha part of the enormous affection that it has always devoted to its city.” “There was no better place than the Calderon to guard these trophies that tell, piece by piece, the story of an unrepeatable artist.”
Carneiro also added that “the family’s generosity in sharing this legacy with all the people of Valladolid is a gesture that we greatly appreciate and will help keep their memory alive for generations to come.”
The exhibition tour brings together a wide representation of the awards he received throughout his career, nearly two dozen, among which, among others, arranged chronologically: the Orange Prize for Spanish Cinema (1966); Numerous awards received at the Valladolid International Film Week (SEMINCI), including the Honor Award (1986); Gold Medal of Merit in Fine Arts (1987); Grand Cross of Alfonso
The family also expressed their desire to incorporate the Huellas de Santa Teresa Award into this exhibition space in the future, a recognition that was given to Concha Velasco posthumously on March 27, 2025.
