The team boss lamented the difficult race in Qatar, with Leclerc eighth and Hamilton 12th, and stressed the need for unity and reaction.
Ferrari left Qatar feeling bitter after performing below expectations. Charles Leclerc finished only eighth, while Lewis Hamilton crossed the line in 12th, a far cry from the podium the team was hoping to achieve at this stage of the season.
After the race, Ferrari president Fred Vasseur acknowledged the decline in performance and the urgent need for change. He said: “We have gone from fighting for the podium to fighting for points. It is definitely difficult, but we have to respond.”
Vasseur also highlighted the importance of maintaining internal unity in the face of clear frustrations within the team. He said: “We have to work and interact as one team. I understand the frustration of the drivers, as well as the frustration of the mechanics and engineers,” stressing that the moment requires stability, not wear and tear.
He also revealed that Maranello’s technical structure is already looking to the future. He added: “As of tomorrow, we will return to work. 90% of our resources are already focused on 2026, so that we are as well prepared as possible.”
While searching for solutions to the problem of declining performance, Ferrari is trying to balance the end of the season with the development of a project that will be decisive in the new era of Formula 1.
