He saw a pile of animal carcasses piled up and made an anonymous report to 112. The police and forest agents went there and carried out inspections. Of the 220 sheep, fifty sheep died. The rest showed “signs of illness,” according to what sources in the case explained. Some of them suffered from respiratory problems, lameness, mastitis and hoof deformities.
The farm was located in a warehouse with rusty and broken fences, while the floor where the animals were was a bed of feces, all uncleaned. He was feeding the sheep on the same land and the straw was black. In addition, they found dead bird feathers on the food. Victorio was arrested for the alleged crime of animal abuse or abandonment resulting in death.
The businessman was released after appearing before the judge, despite his insistence on the charges against him. Agents from the local police and technicians from the Animal Protection Area of the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Interior of the Community of Madrid also participated in the operation.
All animals, whether dead or surviving, were removed from the farm and transported to the facilities to receive treatment by veterinary specialists.
