Neymar left the field angrily when he was replaced by coach Juan Pablo Voevoda on Sunday (9/11), during Santos’ 3-2 defeat to Flamengo, in the Brazilian Championship. In a post-match press conference, Vojvoda explained the situation. The coach was emphatic in saying that although the Santos star was angry, it was the coach who made the decisions.
Check out the excerpt from the Vojvoda press conference:
“It makes sense for Neymar to be upset, because it would upset any other player when I decide he needs to be replaced,” Vojvoda said.
“It’s completely normal for him to be upset. But it has to be that way more oftenAlways with respect. There was no lack of respect or anything. Respect is there. The players want to play and help at this time, which is a difficult time for the club“, announced the Santos coach.

Irritation in the field
Neymar complained strongly about his exit from the Maracana Stadium in the 41st minute of the second half. He made way for the Argentine Rolheiser. The player did not even stay on the bench to watch the end of the match.

“Will you take me away?“, asked Neymar, at the direction of the Santos technical committee, when he was substituted.
At that time, Santos lost to Flamengo 3 x 0. But after the number 10 left the field, Peixe responded and reduced the gap on the scoreboard to 3 x 2, with Rolheiser directly involved in one of the goals.
Santos ranks 17th in the Brazilian Championship with 33 points. In the relegation zone, São Paulo has two points less than Vitoria, the first team outside Z-4.
