Wagner Moura He once again received the coveted status of an international award for his work in the film Secret agent. This time, he received an honorable mention from the Newport Beach Film Festival, held in California, USA, for his “exceptional performance”. In Brazil, the film debuted in theaters last Thursday, the sixth of this month.
This is the fourth statue that the actor has won for this role so far. In addition to Cannes (which also awarded Kleber Mendonça Filho as director), it also won at the Zurich Film Festival and the Chicago Film Festival.
Right now, Wagner Moura is among the leading candidates to compete for the 2026 Academy Award for Best Actor. “We’re doing everything right, but I think we have to calm down and breathe,” the actor said in October. “When we start getting these nominations, I start to say that the path looks more realistic.”
