US economic growth in the fourth quarter could be negative if the federal shutdown continues, White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett said in an interview aired on Sunday.
In an interview with CBS, Hassett noted that the shortage of air traffic controllers caused significant travel delays before the Thanksgiving holiday.
“Thanksgiving is one of the hottest times of the year for the economy…and if people don’t travel at that time, we could have a negative quarter in the fourth quarter,” he said.
