Understand the controversy
During the interview on SBT, Pimentel referred to a script written by Luciano Haack in 2007, after the theft of a Rolex watch in São Paulo. On this occasion, the broadcaster called for more police measures and praised the character of Captain Nascimento, inspired by Pimentel himself. According to the former police officer, the author’s attitude would have changed after he became the victim of an assault.
He also highlighted that Hack had written in the past that the country needed “elite forces,” referring to three robberies that occurred with him and people close to him in the Jardins neighborhood. For Pimentel, the tone of the article indicated support for strong police action, which may contradict existing criticism.
Luciano Huck’s speech
In Domingão presented this month, Huck lamented the results of the operation in Rio and stated that the public security model was being repeated without offering solutions. He commented on the pain of the victims’ families and defended the need for effective policies to deal with the reality of societies, highlighting the importance of combating drug trafficking with consistent measures.
