The 12th Gustoso Film Festival begins on Thursday (20), with sessions held in the paradisiacal Praia do Maceió, in São Miguel do Gustoso (RN). That’s right: the beach becomes a movie theater. Audiences watch films under the starry sky, spread out on 700 deck chairs spread across the sand, on a 12 x 6.5m screen, with 2K and 4K display and 7.1 sound. The Gustoso Film Festival continues until next Monday (24).
- “Demon Slayer”: The latest film in the series became the first Japanese film to exceed R$3.4 billion at the global box office
- success: “The Secret Agent” reaches 700,000 viewers in Brazil, and a photo of Wagner Moura garners 60,000 comments on the academy’s networks.
The festival is dedicated to Brazilian cinema, and on Saturday (22), at 10:30 p.m., it presents a special screening of “The Secret Agent”, a film by director Kleber Mendonça Filho, with Wagner Moura. Tania Maria, who stole the show in the film and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress by Variety, is expected to arrive in São Miguel do Gustoso.

The festival also hosts the Panorama Exhibition, which takes place in the Petrobras Hall, an air-conditioned geodesic tent erected in Praia do Maceió that seats 115 people. Eight short films and four feature films will be screened. The highlight of the program is the restored version of “Cinema, aspirins e urubus”, a famous film by director Marcelo Gomez released in 2005. The session will be attended by the director.
Over the five days of the Gustoso Film Festival, there will also be panels and discussions between directors, critics and audiences. All programming is free.
